<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radiation image photographing system with which a radiologic technologist registers patient information and photographing information concerning radiation photographing and reading, confirms an image, and changes an image processing at a position close to the job site of radiation photographing, a user is provided with an environment which facilitates working with excellent workability, the arrangement area of an instrument is reduced, an introduction cost is reduced, reliability and extensibility are raised, a load is reduced in a network, and consequently, high performance is achieved in communication between components which constitute the network-connection system. <P>SOLUTION: A plurality of controllers, radiation image readers, and a database function for mediating operation control information and status information of the radiation image readers between them are held on a network. A stimulable phosphor sheet registered by an arbitrary controller is read by one radiation image reader. Whichever reader is used, image data is automatically returned to the controller for registering the stimulable phosphor sheet.
