PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a shading coil type single-phase induction motor having small-sized/light-weight/high efficiency at low cost, by a wound type not having a coil end and a stator structure. SOLUTION: In an inner rotor type shading coil single-phase induction motor, a coil 10 is wound into a ring shape on the stator 20, is disposed in such a manner that the center of the ring of the coil substantially coincides with that of a rotational shaft 90, stator cores for constituting magnetic circuits are provided at the outer peripheral side and both axial end sides of the coil, and pole-toothed parts 30, 31 having shading coils 11 are formed alternately at positions deviated byπfor the electrical angle in the circumferential direction of the rotational shaft via the coil 10. In an outer rotor type, stator cores for constituting magnetic circuits are provided at the inner peripheral side and both axial end sides of the coil, and pole-toothed parts having the shading coils are formed likewise on the outer peripheral sides.
