PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of increasing an image data frame rate for recording. SOLUTION: This imaging apparatus comprises a temporary memory means (203) for storing image signals successively acquired by an image data acquisition section (201) and updating the storage, and an image form converting means (205) for generating through-picture displaying image data or image data to be recorded by converting the stored image signals. The imaging apparatus further comprises an image conversion condition setting means (211), which is set so that the number of images, with the data to be recorded and generated per unit time by the image form converting means is larger than the number of images, with the through-picture displaying data and generated per unit time by the image form converting means; and a control means (213) for making the image form converting means convert the image form of the image signal stored in the temporary memory means, into the through-picture displaying image data or the image data to be recorded, based on the setting of the image conversion condition setting means.
