PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recorder which can surely prevent a nozzle opening from being clogged by oscillating a meniscus by a simple method or can prevent unstable jetting of ink occurring in a state wherein the nozzle opening is not yet clogged. SOLUTION: The ink jet recorder is equipped with a means for oscillating the meniscus by a frequency closer to a resonance frequency of the meniscus in a meniscus state at the non printing time than a resonance frequency of the meniscus in a meniscus state at the continuous printing time to a level where the ink is not jetted.
