PURPOSE: Provided is a method for preparing DeNOx catalyst with greater decomposition capacity than activated carbon-based catalyst. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises the steps of (a) mixing organic metal compound solution which is prepared by dissolving organic metal compound containing vanadium or molybdenum by 0.01 to 30 wt.% into a first organic solvent with pitch solution prepared by dissolving pitch into a second organic solvent, (b) preparing vanadium or molybdenum-containing pitch with softening point at 200 deg.C or greater by removing organic solvents from the solution mixture, (c) producing pitch fiber by spinning the pitch containing vanadium or molybdenum, (d) thermally-stabilizing the pitch fiber, (e) carbonizing the thermally-stabilized pitch fiber at a temperature in the range of 500 to 1000 deg.C, and (f) activating the carbonized pitch fiber, wherein the vanadium-containing organic metal compound is selected from a group being consisted of VO(C5H7O2)2, VO(OC2H5)3, (C3H7O)3VO and VO(OC3H7)3 and wherein the molybdenum-containing organic metal compound is selected from a group being consisted of MoO2(C5H7O2)2 and CH3(CO2)2Mo2.
