PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing titanium tetrachloride by which cooling and temperature control for gaseous titanium tetrachloride, and drying for titanium tetrachloride slurry can simultaneously and efficiently be performed. SOLUTION: Titanium ore is chlorinated in a chlorination furnace, and is thereafter subjected to a cooling stage, a condensation stage and a distillation stage to produce titanium tetrachloride. In the cooling stage, titanium tetrachloride slurry consisting of solid impurities, liquid impurities and liquid titanium tetrachloride is brought into contact with gaseous titanium tetrachloride produced in the chlorination furnace.
