PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tension retainer for a wire rope in a marine carrier, capable of retaining the tension of the wire rope even when running pulley members of a lifting tool attempts to ride on an end part of a piled pier or an upper surface of an engine compartment, and not causing flexure or disturbance in a wire rope wound around winches. SOLUTION: A front side lifting tool 69 and a rear side lifting tool 70 which can lift a ship are provided at frames 56, 57. In this marine carrier in which the lifting tools have band-shaped members 71, 75 sandwiching and supporting the ship at a center part, the pairs of running pulley members 73L, 73R, 77L, 77R mated and connected with end parts of the band-shaped members, and a pair of right and left stationary pulley members 74L, 74R, 78L, 78R interlocking with rotation of the running pulley members are provided, and guiding vehicles 80L, 80R, 81L, 81R are disposed between the stationary pulley members and the winches 59, 60, 61, 62 through the wire ropes 63, 64, 65, 66, the tension retainer 2 for pressing to the wire rope between the stationary pulley members and the guiding vehicle by dead load is provided.
