PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for manually feeding paper of a printer are provided to secure a sufficient period of time required for recognizing photosensitive drum cleaning and transfer environment even in the event of manual paper feeding. CONSTITUTION: A manual paper feeding apparatus of a printer includes a manual paper feeding tray, a paper sensor(13), at least one pair of feed rollers(11,12), a motor, and a power controller. The manual paper feeding tray stores print paper. The paper sensor senses whether paper is loaded in the manual paper feeding tray. The feed rollers is provided on a paper transfer path to transfer the paper. The motor provides a rotation force to the feed rollers. The power controller controls a driving force of the motor not to be transmitted to the feed rollers for a predetermined period of time in order to secure a sufficient period of time required for recognizing cleaning of a photosensitive drum and transfer environment when a printing command is inputted.
