OPTICAL NETWORK TEST SYSTEM USING OTDR

PURPOSE: An optical network test system using an OTDR(Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer) is provided to determine faulty lines and locate faults associated with each of the faulty lines even if the fiber length of the different lines is the same. CONSTITUTION: A system(10) has a plurality of optical fiber lines(13) and a coupler(7) having one input port and a plurality of output ports. Each of the output ports is connected to one of a plurality of the optical fiber lines(13). The system(10) has a device(14) for branching the optical fiber lines(13) into the first channel(18) for receiving the first impulse in response to the first test and the second channel(19) for receiving the second impulse in response to the second test. A length of the second channel is longer than that of the first channel by a prescribed overlength(15). The respective overlengths(15) are made different according to each of the optical fiber lines(13).
