PURPOSE: A carrying apparatus is provided to prevent traveling-driving devices and elevation-driving devices from being projected in the front and rear directions of a traveling vehicle in a view from the lower side of a mast and lateral sides and to repress interference between a stacker crane and walls of an automatic warehouse. CONSTITUTION: A carrying apparatus comprises a traveling vehicle; a mast extending vertically from the traveling vehicle; and a platform for elevating and lowering along the mast. The traveling vehicle has traveling-driving devices(20) for wheels(9) and elevation-driving devices(35) for elevating and lowering the platform. The longitudinal direction of both driving devices is almost parallel with a traveling direction of the traveling vehicle. In addition, the traveling vehicle has a pair of frames(17) spaced from each other at a predetermined distance and a connecting member for linking both frames. The wheels are arranged between the pair of frames in the front and rear sides of the traveling vehicle, respectively. The traveling-driving devices are connected to each wheel. An elevating pulley(34) of the platform is arranged between the front and rear wheels. The elevation-driving device is connected to the elevating pulley. The traveling-driving device and elevation-driving device are arranged outside each frame.
