USE OF PROMOTER OF EF1alpha GENE FOR EXPRESSING FOREIGN DNA IN CHRYSANTHEMUM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for stably expressing a foreign DNA in chrysanthemum and to obtain chrysanthemum cells and a plant body of chrysanthemum in which the foreign DNA is stably expressed by the method.

SOLUTION: When a gene highly expressed in tobacco BY2 cells is identified, the gene exhibits significant homology to known EF1α gene. The 5' upstream domain of the identified gene is isolated and promoter activity in the plant body of chrysanthemum is examined. The 5' upstream domain is found to exhibit promoter activity stably high in a plant body of transformed chrysanthemum for a long period of time.
