PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mud removing apparatus of a root vegetable harvester for effectively removing mud sticking to fibrous roots growing on the bottom of a root vegetable part in the root vegetable harvester designed to nip and uproot a root vegetable crop with belts and hang down and transport the root vegetable crop. SOLUTION: The mud removing apparatus of the root vegetable harvester is designed to nip leaves and stems 3a of the root vegetable crop 3vegetated in the field, uproot the root vegetable part with a nipping and transporting apparatus 9, hang down and transport the root vegetable crop to the rear, remove the mud sticking to the root vegetable part and roots growing on the base thereof with a mud removing apparatus 22 and cut the roots to a prescribed length with a root cutting apparatus. The mud removing apparatus is composed of first rotators 21 vertically rotating while sandwiching a transporting passage and second rotators 52 provided in front of the first rotators. The first rotators are rotated from the upper to the lower sides relatively to the roots, and the second rotators are rotated from the lower to the upper sides in the mud removing apparatus of the root vegetable harvester.
