PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a moving member for a linear motor capable of attaining desired mechanical strength and weight and size reductions, and to provide a linear motor with the moving member. SOLUTION: This moving member for the linear motor comprises a coil 1; an annular body 2 which is fixed so as to be brought into close contact with at least one end of the coil 1 and uses an axis in common to the coil; a drive member 4 disposed at a prescribed distance from the annular body 2 in such a direction that it moves away from the annular body 2; and a joint member 3 comprising a plurality of rod-like bodies having prescribed lengths and independent of each other, and which is disposed in the peripheral direction of the annular body 2 to joint the annular body 2 to the drive member 4. The linear motor is constructed by assembling the moving member for the linear motor, which is jointed by a joint yoke, in such a condition that it moves freely in an air-gap between an outer yoke and an inner yoke, where a magnet is disposed.
