PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a frequency variable filter which is excellent in loss/attenuation quantity and small. SOLUTION: In this frequency variable filter which has a surface acoustic wave device 1 and a plurality of switches 4, the surface acoustic wave device 1 has a plurality of electrically separated interdigital electrodes 2, the interdigital electrodes have a plurality of electrode fingers, and the interdigital electrodes are electrically and serially connected to the switches. The interdigital electrodes are elastically connected to each other, and the interdigital electrodes are respectively configured with a plurality of electrode cycles. Electrode cycles coincide at least at part between the adjacent interdigital electrodes, and the switches 4 are microelectro mechanical RF switches. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
