PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas detection method and device in which sufficient sensor output can be certainly obtained thereby improving detection precision. SOLUTION: Electric power is applied to a adsorption combustion gas sensor 40 after turning off the power for a certain period. A peak value of an output value of the adsorption combustion gas sensor 40 just after turning on is obtained. The peak value and a peak value data corresponding to a gas to be detected are compared. The gas to be detected is detected based on the comparison result. Therefore, a target gas can be certainly detected. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
