A method for holding a fabric swatch has the top edge of the material clamped between two strips and with a round permanent magnet fitted at one edge to the top of the clamps. The magnet replaces the conventional fixed hook and enables the swatch to be secured under a ferromagnetic surface, e.g. in a storage unit or under a display surface where the customer can position the material to match the lighting conditions.
