An acoustic electrical transducer, comprises a primary electrode (10) with a depression (15), a secondary electrode (20), an electrically insulating material (30) between the electrodes, and a membrane (40) which can oscillate. The second electrode can oscillate with the membrane, and insulating material is located on the primary electrode, facing the secondary electrode. The membrane consists of a metal foil and also acts as the secondary electrode. The foil consists of steel, esp chromium nickel steel. The insulating material is a ceramic and is sealed using PTFE or silicone.
