PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the sudden change of DC voltage when a rectifying circuit is switched, and the peak value of the current of an AC power source. SOLUTION: This power unit is provided with a rectifying circuit switching shift period in a state of a full wave rectifying circuit, when switching the rectifying circuit from the full wave rectifying circuit to a double voltage rectifying circuit. This performs the method of short circuit action within this rectifying circuit switching shift period by a different method from that before shift period, and boosts the DC voltage to an indispensable minimum voltage value before switching it to the double voltage rectifying circuit, thereby lowering the sudden change of the DC voltage when switching the rectifying circuit from the full wave rectifying circuit to the double voltage rectifying circuit and the peak value of a power source current.
