<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a guide wire, the longitudinal stiffness of which gently varies, that is operable and kink resistant. <P>SOLUTION: The guide wire 1 has a wire body 10 made by connecting a first wire 2 of a linear form arranged on the tip side, a second wire 3 of a linear form formed of a material whose elastic modulus is higher than the first wire 2. The wire body 10 has an overlapping portion 15 in which the base 23 of the first wire 2 and the tip 32 of the second wire 3 overlap each other. The first wire 2 and the second wire 3 are linked by welding at the overlapping portion 15. The base 23 is conical, the tip 32 has a conical hollow 321. The base 23 is inserted into the hollow portion 321. The first wire 2 is preferably formed of a superelastic alloy and the second wire 3 is preferably formed of a stainless steel. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
