<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lubricating coating with abrasion resistance, which gives lower loads to the environment in steps of using, recycling, and discarding a contacting surface, than conventional methods, while maintaining a lubricity equal to a conventional sliding and rolling contacting surface, and to provide a method for manufacturing the lubricating coating. <P>SOLUTION: The lubricating coating formed on the surface of a substrate comprises mixed iron oxides of Fe2O3 and Fe3O4, and is formed by plasma spraying.
