PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alga-controlling agent which exhibits a sufficient controlling effect against algae and has excellent safety, and to provide an alga-controlling method. SOLUTION: This alga-controlling agent is characterized by containing a bis tertiary ammonium compound organic acid salt, such as N,N'-hexamethylenebis(4-carbamoyl-1-decylpyridinium acetate), and/or 4,4'-(tetramethylenedicarbonyldiamino)bis(1-decylpyridinium acetate), as an active ingredient. This alga-controlling agent exhibits sufficient controlling effects against algae in low concentrations, has remarkably reduced metal corrosivity and skin irritativeness, is hardly liable to produce an injurious gas, when burnt, has excellent safety, and can effectively be used in various industrial fields.
