PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To specify a cystallized state with which a recording characteristic is improved and which can not be found in the conventional technology and to provide an initialization method for realizing the cystallized state as to a phase change optical recording medium (optical disk) which mainly consists of Sb and Te as constitutive elements.
SOLUTION: (1): In an optical recording medium on which a recording layer in which Sn and Te are made principal elements, the crystallized state at the time of crystallizing the phase change material in an initialization process is characterized by that the ratio of the peak intensity P1 seen near 2θ=27 to 31 degrees to a peak intensity P2 seen near 2θ= 39 to 44 degrees is 5.0 or less in an X-ray diffraction pattern measured by a thin film X-ray diffraction method. (2): At the time of initializing the optical recording medium, the medium is rotated at a constant line speed slower than a line speed (crystallization critical speed)with which the phase change material is made amorphous by 0 to 2m/s by moving a laser beam at a constant feed speed.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
