PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a both surface image forming apparatus having a fixing device which prevents generation of difference in the luster of the front surface and that of the back surface of a paper and generation of paper curl during both surface copying. SOLUTION: During both surface image forming, a second unfixed toner image t formed on the second surface of the paper S is thermally fixed after thermal fixing of a first unfixed toner image t formed on the first surface of the paper S. Let Th1 be the setting temperature of a first rotary heater 10 during the thermal fixing of the first surface of paper S, Tp1 be the setting temperature of a second rotary heater 20 during the thermal fixing of the first surface of the paper S, Th2 be the set temperature of a first rotary heater 40 during the thermal fixing of the second surface of the paper S and Tp2 be the set temperature of the heater 20 during the thermal fixing of the second surface of the paper S. Then, the set temperature differenceΔT2=Th2-Tp2 during the second surface thermal fixing of the paper S is made larger than the set temperature differenceΔT1=Th1-Tp1 during the first surface thermal fixing of the paper S.
