The invention provides methods and materials related to expressing chimeric IgE proteins. The chimeric IgE proteins have combinations of IgE constant heavy chains from different species. Specifically, the invention provides nucleic acid vectors, host cells, and methods for producing chimeric IgE polypeptides.
