PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a soft polyester short fiber woven or knitted fabric excellent in pill resistance, having bulkiness, quick drying property after water absorption, UV cut property, etc. and practical strength without particularly using a modified polyester fiber having low fiber strength and adopting specific dyeing conditions. SOLUTION: The polyester woven or knitted fabric has a ring spun yarn containing a hollow polyester short fiber having≥2.2 dtex fineness and≥10 and <45% hollow ratio or a ring spun yarn containing a polyester short fiber having≥1.3 dtex fineness, in which≥3 protruded parts existing on the circumference of fiber exist continuously in the fiber length direction, having≥1.8 modified cross section degree and has≥3 grade pilling in accordance with JIS L 1076 A method.
