Disposal and fire-fighting system for particles generated by multiple paper shredders

The waste disposal unit has a pipeline network (18) laid out in the building with several connections (15) for document shredders (14) and a suction device (20). A fire extinguishing system is connected to the pipeline network and linked to an extinguishing agent source (25) which can emit gaseous or gas-borne extinguishing agent. The pipeline network contains outlets (28) into the building which are closed during suction operation. The document shredder connections have automatically operating closures.
