Para-di-isopropylbenzene is obtained by reacting benzene and/or cumene with an amount of propylene of 0.3-1 mol per mol of cumene or 0.6-2 mols per mol of benzene at - 30 DEG to + 60 DEG C. for less than 100 minutes in the presence of 1-30% mol of aluminium chloride based on benzene or cumene, followed by adding water to form aqueous and oily layers. The product is recovered by distillation. |
