PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for zeroing tension meter of continuous annealing furnace are provided to zero the tension meter without stopping of line, lowering of furnace temperature, air substitution of atmospheric gas in furnace and removal of strip in on-line or off line. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus for zeroing tension meter of continuous annealing furnace comprises a strip ascending and descending/transferring means(100) and a tension meter zeroing means(200), wherein the strip ascending and descending/transferring means comprises zeroing rolls(11a,11b) installed in such a manner that the zeroing rolls are ascended and descended to push up a strip stretched over tension meter rolls or return the strip to its original position from the front and rear sides of tension meter and installed in front and rear of the tension meter rolls in such a way that the zeroing rolls are rotated in the same direction as a traveling direction of the strip; cylinders installed at both ends of the zeroing rolls so that height of the zeroing rolls is varied; a pulse generator for transferring the detected height variation to the tension meter zeroing means by detecting height variation of the cylinders; and servo valves(21a,21b) and hydraulic pumps(22a,22b) for opening and closing hydraulic circuits of the cylinders by control signals supplied from the tension meter zeroing means, and wherein the tension meter zeroing means comprises zeroing switch(31), tension meter control unit(5a), electric controller(10a), first motor driver(9) and second motor driver(32).
