PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for simulating a frequency characteristic of a measured circuit as to a gain and a phase. SOLUTION: A functional description FD2 of a frequency characteristic calculating circuit is used in addition to a functional description FD1 of a simulated circuit, in a time-based transition analysis S1 by a circuit simulator. The functional description of the frequency characteristic calculating circuit performs processing for finding a frequency of a periodic signal having a prescribed amplitude and varied in its frequency, and finding an output signal of the measured circuit using the periodic signal as an input signal, and processing for finding frequency characteristics in both the gain and the phase of the output signal or one thereof based on the periodic signal and the output signal, on a time axis in the transition analysis by the circuit simulator. The frequency characteristics, for example, using an abscissa for the frequency and using an ordinate for the gain or the phase, are provided by the processings. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
