PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce friction coefficient on a sliding surface of a sliding component and improve a sealing capability of the sliding component. SOLUTION: When the sliding components for static application and rotary application are relatively slided with each other, a sliding surface 11 of the sliding component 25 is provided with a pore 1, in which a carbon layer 2 with a thickness in a range from 5 X 10<SP>-6</SP>m to 100 X 10<SP>-6</SP>m is stuck on an edge of the pore 1. A recessed portion is stuck on an inward side of the pore. A rate of the pore on the sliding component is in a range from 2 to 10 volume %. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
