METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING FULLERENES

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing high purity fullerenes having a low polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon content even in the case of fullerenes obtained by a combustion process. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing fullerenes includes a step A in which a sooty material containing fullerenes and a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon is mixed with an extractant containing an aromatic hydrocarbon to obtain an extract solution in which the fullerenes and the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon have been dissolved and a step B in which a mixture of the fullerenes with the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon obtained from the extract solution is heated under an inert gas to sublime and separate the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon.
