PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correctly measure the flying speed of particles even in the case where particle diameters are distributed in a wide range, in a method for photographing flying particles and measuring the flying speed of the particle from the static images obtained.
SOLUTION: Flying toner particles are photographed twice at a predetermined time interval. The diameter of an aimed particle is calculated from one of the two static images obtained. Then, based upon this, the mass and the amount of the charges of the aimed toner particle are calculated. Meanwhile, the distribution of the intensity of an electric field in an area where the toner particles scatter is calculated by a finite element method, and the behavior of the toner particle in the electric field is estimated by simulation. The same particles corresponding to the two static images are specified using the estimated flying speed and direction. The flying speed and direction of the particles are calculated from a difference between the positions of the same particles of the two static images and a photographing time interval.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
