PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently realize fine dispersion by preventing a liquid in wet milling from creaming. SOLUTION: A dispersion in water for a thermal recording paper is prepared and the wet milling is carried out in a sand mill 12 filled with glass beads of an average particle diameter of 0.5 mm. The defoaming state of the dispersion in water is adjusted so that the bulk density of the water dispersion, carried out by the wet milling, divided by the true density is≥0.7. In the wet milling method, the dispersion in water is maintained in a normal state without creaming, the fine dispersion is carried out efficiently and the obtained dispersion in water has an excellent dispersion state of fine particles.
