PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrodeless discharge lamp lighting device simplifying a circuit detecting the abnormality of a load. SOLUTION: The electrodeless discharge lamp lighting device is equipped with an inverter circuit converting DC voltage into high frequency voltage and outputting it; a resonance circuit connected to the output end of the inverter circuit; a load circuit having an induction coil generating a high frequency magnetic field with current outputted from the resonance circuit and an electrodeless discharge lamp arranged in the vicinity of the induction coil and connected to the resonance circuit with an electric wire; an abnormality detecting circuit outputting an abnormal signal indicating the abnormality of the electrodeless discharge lamp when a voltage value of a current value in the specified portion of the resonance circuit exceeds a first threshold value; an output limiting circuit limiting the output of the inverter circuit by receiving the abnormal signal, and furthermore a connection abnormality detecting part outputting a second abnormal signal when the voltage value or the current value reaches a second threshold value or less lower than the first threshold value is installed.
