An impact absorbing support for fitting external body sections to a vehicle frame has a hollow bell shaped elastic body (10) with a mounting flange to secure onto the vehicle frame. The outer end of the support has an elastic socket (12) into which is pressed a corresponding mounting fitted to the underside of the body section. The wall of the housing has two tapers; a short upper taper (20) and a steeper, larger main taper (22). On impact the two tapers cause the elastic housing to roll about the joining point of the two tapers to progressively absorb the impact. The impact support has a good recovery property.
