<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To materialize reduction of consumption current during periods of high speed start and stationary rotation of a spindle motor while employing one low voltage power supply. <P>SOLUTION: In a CPU 13, a spindle motor driver 12 is set in a SPM starting mode on startup of the SPM 11. A power switching apparatus 126 applies to a drive circuit voltage (high voltage) boosted by a boosting circuit 125. A start control circuit 123 starts the SPM 11 by controlling the drive circuit 127 to which high voltage is applied during the SPM starting mode. The CPU 13 sets the SPM driver 12 in the PWM mode on the completion of starting of the SPM 11. The power switching apparatus 126 switches voltage applied to the drive circuit 127 to supply voltage (low voltage) of the power supply 2. The PWM circuit 124 stationarily rotates the SPM 11 by controlling the drive circuit 127 to which the low voltage is applied during the PWM mode. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
