PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hair dye composition requiring short processing time, dyeing the hair and simultaneously imparting brightness to the hair. SOLUTION: The hair dye composition containing at least one developer and at least one coupling agent comprises (a) 0.001-2,5 wt.% at least one compound selected from potassium iodide and sodium iodide based on whole compositions before mixing with a peroxide and (b) 0.5-10 wt.% at least one ammonium compound selected from the group consisting of ammonium chloride, ammonium sulfide, ammonium carbonate, ammonium bicarbonate and ammonium carbamate based on whole compositions before mixing with the peroxide and (c) ammonia, wherein the composition has pH8 to pH11 after being mixed with the peroxide.
