PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a relief valve for an electrical double layered capacitor which is small in size and has a high performance. SOLUTION: In an opening of a vessel 7 with an electrolyte inside, a gasket 2 is installed. In the opening of the vessel 7, there is also a disc spring-like disc 3 with a bottom which selectively connects or disconnects the inside and outside of the vessel 7, depending whether it closely contact the gasket 2 or not. Normally, the disc 3 is in close contact with the gasket 2 and seals the vessel 7. When the internal pressure of the vessel 7 becomes the release operation pressure or above, the disc 3 moves inversely in a direction away from the gasket 2, connecting the inside and outside of the vessel 7. Under the sealing recovery pressure or below, the disc 3 returns to the original condition to be adhered to the gasket 2 and seal the vessel. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
