PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a smoke shielding sliding door device installed in front of an elevator, excellent in the appearance in a usual condition and which can be easily opened by putting fingers on the closed smoke shielding sliding door when it is closed. SOLUTION: Right and left sliding doors 60 are moved from a door storage case to close them. The left side sliding door 60 is parallelly moved to the structure and the right door 60 diagonally advances so as to be pushed out to the elevator floor 2 and these doors 60 are abutted against each other. In this time, the left and right door fronts 62 form a level difference in the depth over the whole vertical length but the closed door 60 can be easily opened by hooking fingers on the level difference part (rise and fall door side 63 of the left side sliding door 60 in this case) even when trying to open the door 60 by feel in a state a light has gone out in a fire.
