PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tetraarylmethane derivative useful as a functional material used for an electronic photographic photosensitive material, an organic electric field light-generating element, various organic semiconductor elements, etc., and a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: This tetraarylmethane derivative is expressed by general formula (1) [wherein, R1to R4are each a non-substituted or substituted alkyl, a non-substituted or substituted alkoxy, a halogen, cyano or nitro; (n1) to (n4) are each 0-4 integer; R1to R4consist of each the same or different substituting group when each of them presents in a plurality; R11, R22, R33, R44, R111, R222, R333and R444are each a non-substituted or substituted aromatic hydrocarbon group or a non-substituted or substituted heterocyclic ring group; and R11with R111, R22with R222, R33with R333and R44with R444may each form a condensed ring of a non-substituted or substituted aromatic hydrocarbon by each of the former with latter].
