PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing device which detects the tilting of an image and is used for a skew correction by making use of information on a ruled line, boundary of a color-differentiated background part and so on separated from a character part by means of the difference in colors. SOLUTION: A colored manuscript image is inputted to an image input means 201. A prescribed color determination means 202 determines a prescribed color of a certain area on the manuscript, and a prescribed color extracting/deleting means 204 extracts or deletes the prescribed color. A prescribed color binarization means 203 produces a binary image, in accordance with the result of the determination executed by the prescribed color determinating 202. An image tilt computing means 205 detects the tilting of the image by using information on a prescribed colored pixel to be extracted or deleted. The image tilt computing means 205 detects the tilting of the image, for example, by using information on the boundary part of the prescribed colored area in the colored image.
