PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating/baking method for a metal strip where the metal strip can stably be passed and can be coated and baked by eliminating troubles in a line caused by malfunction of a heater. SOLUTION: An object which is not a coating/baking object and immediately precedes a coating/baking object is subjected to heating of a low level at which the operation of baking treatment can be recognized, and temperature of the object is measured right after heating. If the measured temperature is lower than the predetermined temperature of a low level at which the operation can be recognized, a process for the coating/baking object is stopped. The object temperature immediately after coating and baking is measured while performing the the coating and baking, and when the measured temperature is lower than a lower limit for manufacturing a product, the coating/baking treatment on object is stopped .
