The invention concerns a device for powering a vacuum fluorescent display (VFD) of a motor vehicle, the display means (19) having a filament (17) requiring a polarizing voltage and an alternating heating voltage and an anode (25) and a grid (23) requiring a positive voltage. The invention is characterized in that it consists of a switching power supply, whereof a midpoint (7) of a secondary (12) powering the filament (17) is connected to a terminal (4) of the battery.
