Method for blocking the delivery of active e-mail attachments to a recipient has the following steps: (a) receipt of the e-mail by a server; (b) storage of the e-mail in the server; (c) decomposition of the e-mail into its components; (d) testing of the components for active content; (e) evaluation of any active components; (f) and provision of the email components from steps d) and e) to the recipient with or without active components. An Independent claim is made for an arrangement for blocking the delivery of e-mail with active components to a user.
