<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an input device (pointing device) that can continuously be moved with ease and also indicate both an absolute position and movement (relative position), has a wide width of a variation in speed, and is easy and capable of easily inputting reciprocal movement. <P>SOLUTION: A plurality of root sides of individual detecting elements which can physically deform are bundled together or disposed side by side. Each detecting element is equipped with a sensor which detects a force for physical deformation when it is applied to the tip side and a wire from the sensor. Physical deformation of the individual detecting elements is detected to indicate a relative distance to a computer together with the absolute positions of one or more specified detecting elements detected among all the detecting elements. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
