PURPOSE: A method for solid state polymerizing a polycarbonate resin is provided, to improve the reaction velocity and the by-product removing velocity by using the microwave and the gas containing an organic solvent. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises the steps of melt polymerizing an aromatic dihydroxy compound and a diaryl carbonate to obtain a prepolymer having a viscosity average molecular weight of 1,000-25,000 g/mol; pretreating the prepolymer to obtain a crystalline prepolymer having a size of 0.01-5 mm and a crystallization degree of 50 % or less; and solid state polymerizing the pretreated prepolymer by flowing the gas containing the steam obtained by vaporizing the liquid having the dipole moment and using the microwave, to obtain a polycarbonate resin. Preferably the liquid having the dipole moment is selected from the group consisting of toluene, a ketone, an alcohol and an ether and is used singly or together with a nitrogen gas.
