The present invention is directed at providing short, high-energy optical pulses of high spectral and temporal quality at both a signal and frequency-doubled wavelength. One embodiment of the present invention comprises a short-pulse master-oscillator (MO), a pulse conditioner (PC), a parabolic amplifier, a compressor and a frequency converter. The implementation of parabolic amplification and pulse conditioning of the seed pulses form a master oscillator, which provides high-quality compressed pulses at very high energies, comparable to those generated by femtosecond solid-state systems. |
