PURPOSE: A method for rearranging a list of phone numbers in a portable information terminal is provided to rapidly search for a phone number by rearranging and displaying a list of phone numbers in the order of frequency in call usage, in alphabetical order or in the order of memory addresses according to a user's convenience. CONSTITUTION: The user of a portable information terminal accesses a phone number searching menu in order to search for a previously stored phone number and selects one among the order of memory addresses, the order of frequency in call connections, and alphabetical order. In case that the user selects the order of memory addresses, the portable information terminal displays a list of phone numbers in the order of memory addresses. In case that the user selects the order of call connection frequency, the portable information terminal displays the list in the order of frequency in call usage. If the user selects alphabetical order, the portable information terminal displays the list in alphabetical order.
