PURPOSE: A center fin machining tool for a heat exchanger and a method for machining the surface of a tool are provided to improve the machining and surface treatment of a center fin, to extend the life span of a center fin machining tool, and to make regrinding easy. CONSTITUTION: An edge portion(E) of a cutting tooth of a respective blade(30) consisting an executive tool is nitrified in the depth of 20-60 micrometer without thermal treatment to form a nitride layer of hardness over Hv 1200-1300 in the edge portion. The blades are layered on both ends of a central layer hole coaxial with guide jig disks.
