The method involves processing and handling signaling information from the ISDN connection (PRA) independently of connection type, adapting signaling information from the connection to the peripheral adapter (TNE1) for type-independent handling and adapting the signaling information from the switching station (P-Vst1) to the peripheral adapter in accordance with the connection type.
